Thanks for everyone's work

I just wanted to second the comment to Meg's post. All of us put a lot of work into Service Saturday (which was a huge success), but Meg pulled more than her fair share of weight when it came to organizing the event. As far as the surplus money. . . Don't worry about reimbursing me for getting the icecream machine it was the least we could do. Offer the money to Shane, grandpa, and whoever else is on the list and if they don't want it stick it in a can and we can use it the next time we need money. Have fun tonight ladies.

Service Saturday Financial Report :)

Hi everyone! I first just want to praise GOD for working through this event. And I want to thank all of YOU for being the hands and feet for Him to move in this community. I know we all have stories and i can't wait to hear all of them. Really quickly...here is where we spent the money. As Nick mentioned in church on Sunday, it was like the 2 fishes and 5 loaves, because i feel like our $$$ went a long way and we still have some left over (thanks to the vet clinic for all the extra food, plates, etc, thanks to Kelly for getting a smoking deal on the bounce house, thanks to Tim & Kathy Butikofer for letting us use the warehouse/trailers/laminating machine etc, thanks to Jean Gust for providing helium balloons, thanks to Shane for the large painting boards, the list goes on...)

We brought in $269 of donations for this event from our group.
Here are the expenses:
Print Flyers.......................................$8.00
Print Signs.........................................$7.00
Paint Supplies.................................$26.73
Food (paid to Shane)......................$71.00
Condiments & Choc Syrup............$10.00
Bounce House...............................$107.00
Gas (for rental place's truck).......$20.00
Total............................................$249.73

The extra $19.27 - I am recommending that we reimburse Ryan for picking up the ice cream machine in Arlington, Shane for the trip to Eldorado for the painting signs and my grandpa Butikofer for taking the extra clothes to the Fayette County food shelf in Fayette. If noone objects, i will give this money out in the next few days. Thanks!!

LIFE

Hey everyone, I hope all is having a good day. I had a good interview last week with Four Oaks. They said I interviewed well which is a good sign. I have still not heard a response yet, they said it would be a week or so before they would let me know. I have a 50/50 chance of being offered the job due to the fact they are hiring two positions and have only 4 people to interview. It sounds like a good opportunity for me but the hours and distance are some hindering factors. I have been praying about it and talking it over with family, as well as still hunting for additional opportunities that may become available. I thank you all for your prayers and support. Kris

Prayer meeting

Just to let everyone know there were four of us that met this morning for prayer. The "Federal Hybrids cult" spent a good hour in prayer praying over the pray requests from last week, lifting up Service Saturday, asking for revival in NE Ia, and just having a good time communing with God.

A welcome back goes out to the Bensons who returned home last evening, and to the good news that the Union is doing a article on Service Saturday. Look forward to hearing updates on peoples lives via this blog, and hopefully to hear good news about new jobs for some of you out there.

Have a blessed day,
RB

Little Things

As I take time to read in the Word each day, I'm trying to glean at least one thing that I could apply to my life. Last night was a convicting few verses from 1 Peter about being under "yucky" leadership which is something I'm dealing with for a conference I'm planning. But, what I really wanted to share with all of you is from several days ago when I was reading in 1 Thessalonians. The scripture is about living to please God:

Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.
It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.
1 Thessalonians 4:1-8

This was a good reminder to me that God has high expectations of us as we associate ourselves with Him. God calls us to live a holy life and if we reject that, that we reject God! Hope you have a good week.

The First "Overflow" Post

Hi all, Welcome to the Overflow small group web journal, where we can gather online to encourage each other to press on. We can share prayers, thoughts, words from God, etc. Jokes and fun stories are acceptable as well. May God be pleased with all that is written and shared here. To God be the Glory, b
